After reading her reviews we engaged Nathalia to act as our Local Friend on Saturday and Sunday. We didn't realize the International Gay Pride Parade was taking place 30 meters from our hotel! Nathalia very graciousl rearrange her schedule to take us out Monday instead of Sunday. She arranged our schedule to take us nearly everywhere on the list of suggested places we had sent her in advance including helping me buy a guitar on the Street of Music as well as taking my wife all through a wonderful street market. Nathalia is an excellent conversationalist, very knowledgable, speaks excellent English and was a delight to spend time with. We highly recommend Nathalia to anyone visiting Sao Paulo! "

Told her where I wanted to go and she took note of those. She fetched me at my hotel and we walked, took the bus, took a cab going to the places we had to. She wasn't hesitant to take photos of you anywhere you want to. She asks you where you want to go next or what you want to do first. She makes you feel that it's your trip, so it's your call on where you want to go and when. I opened up with her with a lot of issues haha. You know what I mean Nath and she was just there to listen and help you in anyway she could. Too bad I didn't get the last thing I wanted to experience because of resources and security concerns. Overall, I enjoyed my time with her. Well, this is advisable if you have enough budget to hire a local friend (to me it was soo expensive from where I come from, well everything in SP is) But if you have the money, then go ahead.. :) "

"“Great way for a first-timer to see Sao Paulo!” I was in Sao Paulo last year for a business conference (sorry it took me so long to write my review) and felt totally intimidated by the size of the city and concerns about safety. I stumbled on Rent a Local Friend on trip advisor and decided what the heck, why not? I got Nathalia as my guide and she was just terrific! Friendly, knowledgeable, perfectly fluent in English, and just a really nice person to spend the day with. She really put a lot of thought into showing me things I would be interested in (like architecture), and took us to a little neighborhood place for a real Sao Paulo buffet lunch, just like the locals do. If you are going to S.P., definitely give RALF a try and ask for Nat! "

"“Great way to explore São Paulo!” It was so easy to set up the appointment via the website and meet up with Nathalia, our guide, whom we communicated with via Whatsapp using the wifi in our hostel. This review is long long overdue because she hosted us in December, many apologies! Wear comfortable shoes because you really do lots of walking around because Nathalia really made sure to pack as many sights as she could into our one day tour. I liked that she factored in our interests e.g books and art and was so easy to get along with. I'm recommending her to my other friends in Singapore who are thinking of visiting Brazil! :) keep up the good work! "

"“See Sao Paulo Through the Eyes of a Local” My girlfriend and I recently did a tour of Brazil and Argentina visiting a few cities along the way. We started our tour in Sao Paulo and not knowing much about the city, we hired Nathalia Pires Souto to be our local tour guide. Leading up to our arrival, Nath kept in touch with us through email and we let her know what we were interested in seeing and doing. She had an amazing itinerary planned out for us for the 8 hours we "rented" her for. She met us promptly at 10AM. We learned to take the metro, she showed us all around down-town, and brought us to the local markets and we even had a tasting trying out all different fruits which I have to say tasted way better than the fruits in the US. The mango was my favorite - so ripe and sweet! But there was this other fruit which I can't remember the name of, but it's an amazon fruit which was amazing! We had lunch at the market where I tried Brazil's famous mortadela sandwich (which I recommend trying) if you ever go. After lunch we took a cab to Vila Madalena which is such a cool and hip town. There's a bunch of restaurants and its just a cool vibe. My favorite part of the area was the graffitti alleyways. Those artists have talent. We spent the rest of our afternoon in Vila Madelena entering local shops, eating and drinking along the way (well I was) haha! But overall great experience! I highly reccomened hiriing Nath to show you around Sao Paulo. She even reccomened things for us to do the next day that we were on our own and gave us a map and outlined everything out for us. We got around just fine taking the metro alone and even finding a shopping area by foot which she explained how to get to. "

"“Lots of walking to see Sao Paulo with RALF - and that's how it should be done!” Date: Wednesday, December 26th, 2012. RALF Guide (Sao Paulo): Nath Pires Souto While we were planning our trip to Sao Paulo and Rio in December 2012, I accidentally bumped into RALF on Trip Advisor. With no idea of the concept, I read up reviews on the site and sounded very promising. So my wife and I decided to try this out and chose Nath as our rent-a-local friend. And I am extremely happy to say that we were more than impressed! We are a married 30-yr old couple of Indian origin living in New York. We travel a fair bit and our idea of traveling always involves learning more about the place - its history, culture, small lanes, lesser-knows facts, off-beat paths and alleys. When we decided to choose Nath, I sent her an email letting her know what we wanted to do in SP. Nath was very quick to respond to my mail and she drew up a plan letting us know what she intended to show us. As we came closer to our meeting date, we checked in with her and fixed the time to meet (10 am). Nath was there on time and we all took no time to click. We first took the metro to Liberdade and then spent a lot of time walking in downtown SP. Nath has lot of knowledge of SP and explained everything as we walked along - the history of the city, economic conditions, demographics, local Brazilian culture, family traditions, etc, etc. She then took us to the Bohemian art district - which was the highlight of our trip. We got to see the most interesting cemetery, local graffiti alleys and a very cool shopping district. Though it was a hot day, we would highly recommend exploring the city on foot as much as possible. That is how you learn a new place the best. We concluded our 8-hour tour at 6 pm. We had some snacks and chilled drinks back at our hotel club lobby where we all chatted up about our day and our lives back in the US. By the end of it, we all became more like friends and had a great time laughing and gossiping! Overall - I HIGHLY recommend Rent-a-Local-Friend. We did the same thing in Rio and rest assured, it was 10 times better than a local city tour that we took. Be ready to walk a lot. Keep loose cash with you for the metro, small cab rides and meals. I would say it is customary to pay for your local friend's metro, cab ride and lunch - but I did not feel obligated or pressured to do so. Nath speaks absolutely fluent English and you will absolutely need that support in Brazil where very few people speak English. Hope this information helps folks! "

"“Wonderful experience!” I did a 4-hour walking tour with Nathalia this November. Before I went to Sao Paulo I had an image of a not-so-interesting, chaotic and dangerous city in my mind. "“Best way to see Sao Paulo” Never having heard of them, I was initially hesitant to book through "Rent a Local Friend"; but my experience with Nath certainly changed my opinion. She responded very quickly to my request for information. As the time for my visit grew closer and I had some time to determine what I'd like to see, I contacted her with my request. Since my hotel was near the airport, I took a taxi into town to meet her. She met me at the appointed time and we had a snack and chatted. Since there were only two places that I had identified that I'd definitely like to see, she suggested several others. We went about touring and eventually ended up in Ibirapuera Park and the Afro-Brasilian museum. I I felt that my time was well-spent, and she showed me places that matched my interests. "“WOW - fabulous tour & info!” I visited Sao Paulo in Sept 2012 and hired Nathalia to guide me through the city. I was traveling on business and decided to come one day early to see the city before my meetings. It was fabulous! Thank goodness I hired Nathalia. She made my time there very efficient and tailored our itinerary to my interests. I had emailed her ahead of time to let her know I wanted to go the Sala, a local food market or farmers market, parks, cathedral, etc. And I needed souvenirs for my kids. "“Sociabale day in Sao Paulo” Nath and me 'clicked' from the very first moment we met. Besides that she showed me al lot of nice things in Sao Paulo. Because I only had a day on my own, I asked here to 'taste' the city. She had a perfect programme for that. We visited a park, a beautifull museum in the park, we went to a flea-market, I had typical Paulista snacks, we had a nice lunch in a cozy restaurant and she took me to a shop where I bought beautifull souvenirs. My day in Sao Paulo was not just memorabel because the things I saw, but also because it was a a very sociabel day ('gezellig' I would say in Dutch). Nath is very easy to talk to, not only because she speaks very good English, but also because she is interested in people. So if you ever need a guide in Sao Paulo, ask Nath. As we had only one day and an evening flight back to the U.S. and did not want to do the usual bus and city tour which we've found in the past to be pretty generic. We contacted Nathalia by e-mail and she responded very quickly. We described our interests in a tour of the central business areas of Sao Paulo for the time we had available. Nath arrived at our hotel and gave us a brief orientation describing where would be going and what we would be seeing in the next few hours. "“See Sao Paulo Through the Eyes of a Local” My girlfriend and I recently did a tour of Brazil and Argentina visiting a few cities along the way. We started our tour in Sao Paulo and not knowing much about the city, we hired Nathalia Pires Souto to be our local tour guide. Leading up to our arrival, Nath kept in touch with us through email and we let her know what we were interested in seeing and doing. She had an amazing itinerary planned out for us for the 8 hours we "rented" her for. She met us promptly at 10AM. We learned to take the metro, she showed us all around down-town, and brought us to the local markets and we even had a tasting trying out all different fruits which I have to say tasted way better than the fruits in the US. Nath was very quick to respond to my mail and she drew up a plan letting us know what she intended to show us. We first took the metro to Liberdade and then spent a lot of time walking in downtown SP. Nath has lot of knowledge of SP and explained everything as we walked along - the history of the city, economic conditions, demographics, local Brazilian culture, family traditions, etc, etc. She then took us to the Bohemian art district - which was the highlight of our trip. We got to see the most interesting cemetery, local graffiti alleys and a very cool shopping district. Though it was a hot day, we would highly recommend exploring the city on foot as much as possible. That is how you learn a new place the best. We concluded our 8-hour tour at 6 pm. We had some snacks and chilled drinks back at our hotel club lobby where we all chatted up about our day and our lives back in the US. By the end of it, we all became more like friends and had a great time laughing and gossiping! Overall - I HIGHLY recommend Rent-a-Local-Friend. We did the same thing in Rio and rest assured, it was 10 times better than a local city tour that we took. Be ready to walk a lot. Keep loose cash with you for the metro, small cab rides and meals. "“See Sao Paulo Through the Eyes of a Local” My girlfriend and I recently did a tour of Brazil and Argentina visiting a few cities along the way. We started our tour in Sao Paulo and not knowing much about the city, we hired Nathalia Pires Souto to be our local tour guide. Leading up to our arrival, Nath kept in touch with us through email and we let her know what we were interested in seeing and doing. She had an amazing itinerary planned out for us for the 8 hours we "rented" her for. She met us promptly at 10AM. We learned to take the metro, she showed us all around down-town, and brought us to the local markets and we even had a tasting trying out all different fruits which I have to say tasted way better than the fruits in the US. The mango was my favorite - so ripe and sweet! But there was this other fruit which I can't remember the name of, but it's an amazon fruit which was amazing! We had lunch at the market where I tried Brazil's famous mortadela sandwich (which I recommend trying) if you ever go. After lunch we took a cab to Vila Madalena which is such a cool and hip town. There's a bunch of restaurants and its just a cool vibe. My favorite part of the area was the graffitti alleyways. Those artists have talent. We spent the rest of our afternoon in Vila Madelena entering local shops, eating and drinking along the way (well I was) haha! But overall great experience! I highly reccomened hiriing Nath to show you around Sao Paulo. She even reccomened things for us to do the next day that we were on our own and gave us a map and outlined everything out for us. We got around just fine taking the metro alone and even finding a shopping area by foot which she explained how to get to. "

RALF Guide (Sao Paulo): Nath Pires Souto While we were planning our trip to Sao Paulo and Rio in December 2012, I accidentally bumped into RALF on Trip Advisor. With no idea of the concept, I read up reviews on the site and sounded very promising. So my wife and I decided to try this out and chose Nath as our rent-a-local friend. And I am extremely happy to say that we were more than impressed! We are a married 30-yr old couple of Indian origin living in New York. We travel a fair bit and our idea of traveling always involves learning more about the place - its history, culture, small lanes, lesser-knows facts, off-beat paths and alleys. When we decided to choose Nath, I sent her an email letting her know what we wanted to do in SP. Nath was very quick to respond to my mail and she drew up a plan letting us know what she intended to show us. As we came closer to our meeting date, we checked in with her and fixed the time to meet (10 am). Nath was there on time and we all took no time to click. We first took the metro to Liberdade and then spent a lot of time walking in downtown SP. Nath has lot of knowledge of SP and explained everything as we walked along - the history of the city, economic conditions, demographics, local Brazilian culture, family traditions, etc, etc. She then took us to the Bohemian art district - which was the highlight of our trip. We got to see the most interesting cemetery, local graffiti alleys and a very cool shopping district. Though it was a hot day, we would highly recommend exploring the city on foot as much as possible. That is how you learn a new place the best. We concluded our 8-hour tour at 6 pm. We had some snacks and chilled drinks back at our hotel club lobby where we all chatted up about our day and our lives back in the US. By the end of it, we all became more like friends and had a great time laughing and gossiping! Overall - I HIGHLY recommend Rent-a-Local-Friend. We did the same thing in Rio and rest assured, it was 10 times better than a local city tour that we took. Be ready to walk a lot. Keep loose cash with you for the metro, small cab rides and meals. I would say it is customary to pay for your local friend's metro, cab ride and lunch - but I did not feel obligated or pressured to do so. Nath speaks absolutely fluent English and you will absolutely need that support in Brazil where very few people speak English. Hope this information helps folks! "

Friendly, knowledgeable, perfectly fluent in English, and just a really nice person to spend the day with. "“See Sao Paulo Through the Eyes of a Local” My girlfriend and I recently did a tour of Brazil and Argentina visiting a few cities along the way. We started our tour in Sao Paulo and not knowing much about the city, we hired Nathalia Pires Souto to be our local tour guide. Leading up to our arrival, Nath kept in touch with us through email and we let her know what we were interested in seeing and doing. She had an amazing itinerary planned out for us for the 8 hours we "rented" her for. She met us promptly at 10AM. We learned to take the metro, she showed us all around down-town, and brought us to the local markets and we even had a tasting trying out all different fruits which I have to say tasted way better than the fruits in the US. The mango was my favorite - so ripe and sweet! But there was this other fruit which I can't remember the name of, but it's an amazon fruit which was amazing! We had lunch at the market where I tried Brazil's famous mortadela sandwich (which I recommend trying) if you ever go. After lunch we took a cab to Vila Madalena which is such a cool and hip town. There's a bunch of restaurants and its just a cool vibe. My favorite part of the area was the graffitti alleyways. Those artists have talent. We spent the rest of our afternoon in Vila Madelena entering local shops, eating and drinking along the way (well I was) haha! But overall great experience! I highly reccomened hiriing Nath to show you around Sao Paulo. She even reccomened things for us to do the next day that we were on our own and gave us a map and outlined everything out for us. We got around just fine taking the metro alone and even finding a shopping area by foot which she explained how to get to. "

With no idea of the concept, I read up reviews on the site and sounded very promising. So my wife and I decided to try this out and chose Nath as our rent-a-local friend. And I am extremely happy to say that we were more than impressed! We are a married 30-yr old couple of Indian origin living in New York. We travel a fair bit and our idea of traveling always involves learning more about the place - its history, culture, small lanes, lesser-knows facts, off-beat paths and alleys. When we decided to choose Nath, I sent her an email letting her know what we wanted to do in SP. Nath was very quick to respond to my mail and she drew up a plan letting us know what she intended to show us. As we came closer to our meeting date, we checked in with her and fixed the time to meet (10 am). Nath was there on time and we all took no time to click. We first took the metro to Liberdade and then spent a lot of time walking in downtown SP. Nath has lot of knowledge of SP and explained everything as we walked along - the history of the city, economic conditions, demographics, local Brazilian culture, family traditions, etc, etc. She then took us to the Bohemian art district - which was the highlight of our trip. We got to see the most interesting cemetery, local graffiti alleys and a very cool shopping district. Though it was a hot day, we would highly recommend exploring the city on foot as much as possible. That is how you learn a new place the best. We concluded our 8-hour tour at 6 pm. We had some snacks and chilled drinks back at our hotel club lobby where we all chatted up about our day and our lives back in the US. By the end of it, we all became more like friends and had a great time laughing and gossiping! Overall - I HIGHLY recommend Rent-a-Local-Friend. We did the same thing in Rio and rest assured, it was 10 times better than a local city tour that we took. Be ready to walk a lot. Keep loose cash with you for the metro, small cab rides and meals. I would say it is customary to pay for your local friend's metro, cab ride and lunch - but I did not feel obligated or pressured to do so. Nath speaks absolutely fluent English and you will absolutely need that support in Brazil where very few people speak English. Hope this information helps folks! "

This service was exactly what we needed to make our stay in Brazil more enjoyable. Nathalia has the perfect personality for this type of service. She is young, energetic and enthusiastic about the culture and history of the city. She did much more than we had been expecting, including additional research to let us know the best places to find certain foods or other items we had expressed an interest in during our time with her. She also checked in with us on the days after spending time with her to make sure everything was going well. By the time we left Sao Paulo, we felt we had made a true friend, not just "a friend for a day"!! We've already told several people how great we though the service was!! "
