About

Born and raised in Mexico City, I have been living in Colonia Condesa for the past 5 years. At this moment my main activity is being a freelance tour guide. My fields of knowledge are history of Mexico, architecture and food. Also, it is important for me to make foreign visitors feel welcomed and to show them Mexico City through the eyes of a local.

Hobbies

I´m into food and wine (self confessed foodie!),the arts and music. Trying new foods and visting new places is one of my favorite thing to do in Mexico City. I´m also keen on showing my city from an insiders perspective.

Local experience

In the past, I have shown my city to foreign friends and they all loved it. I can arrange museum visits, cool and trendy neighborhood walking tours, markets (traditional and modern), shopping, great mexican restaurants and hidden cantinas (from old school to contemporary and trendy!), architecture walking tours (prehispanic, colonial, 20th. century and contemporary), bullfights at the largest bullfighting ring in th world, live music (cool jazz clubs, mariachi and classical), tequila, pulque and mezcal tastings, etc. If you like to experience the nightlife, in the past I also have organized bar hopping outings in and around cool neighborhoods! Off the beaten path neighborhoods like Juarez, San Rafael, Santa María la Ribera and Tlalpan, also offer great opportunites to discover museums, markets, hidden architectural gems and historic restaurants and cantinas.

Pablo was an excellent host and local area expert. He was excellent during the planning process as we had less than 24 hours in Mexico City (we were connecting from one international flight to another and decided to stay over 1 night so we could visit the city). Pablo was great at creating a do-able itinerary that gave us. Some great highlights and showed us some of Mexico City’s best neighborhoods as only a local could. With his amazing cultural knowledge, excellent knowledge of the neighborhoods, and amazing personality and “joie de vivre”, Pablo truly was a “local friend”, who really made us fall in love with this great city of Ciudad de Mexico.

What a fun day I had with Pablo! He was on time to pick me up at my hotel, then we went to Coyoacán neighborhood. We got to sample several foods at the market as well as getting an explanation of the architecture and history of the neighborhood. Don´t hesitate in hiring Pablo as your Local Guide in Mexico City!

My days with Pablo were great. He is very knowlegdeable about Mexico City and fun to be with. Although a great city, I think it would be very difficult to get to know Mexico City without a trusted insider. I highly recommend booking Pablo as a Local Friend!

Lardo

Eat & Drink

Lardo

Located in a historic building of La Condesa neighborhood, Lardo is chef Elena Reygada's latest venture. Their specialty is Medierranean dishes with a Mexican flare. This restaurant features an open kitchen and a long bar, where you can sit down and have a great meal in relaxed and informal atmosphere , not very common in Mexico. Make sure you try the zucchini blossom flatbread!

Agustín Melgar 6, Condesa, 06140 Ciudad de México, D.F., Mexico

Dulcería de Celaya

Eat & Drink

Dulcería de Celaya

If you have a sweet tooth this is definetely the place for you! Established in 1874, Dulceria de Celaya keeps serving handmade Mexican candy to this day. They use only fresh ingredients, traditional cooking methods and recipes. The main branch is in the historic downtown of Mexico City; but if you are around Colonia Roma make sure to check their other branch on Orizaba 37.

Open daily from 10:30 to 19:30 hours

Av. 5 de Mayo 39, Centro Histórico, Centro, 06000 Ejido del Centro, D.F., Mexico

Zona Rosa (The Pink Zone)

Traps

Zona Rosa (The Pink Zone)

Once a thriving, trendy and Bohemian neighborhood, La Zona Rosa, is now a sad reminder of the days gone by. Although it figures on many guides and websites as a good place to stay and walk around, I don´t recommend it: It´s noisy, chaotic and crowded. Having said that, if you do go, please make sure you to visit Fonda El Refugio (authentic mexican food) and Plaza del Angel (antiques stores).
