Local experience

Salvador da Bahia
Where Brazil was Born

Brazil’s original capital city, Salvador da Bahia is known for its colonial architecture and its strong retention of African culture. The African presence in Salvador can be noticed not only in the racial make up of its population, but also in its music, cuisine, dances and religious traditions. Home of one of the largest street parties in the world, Salvador opens its arms every year to hundreds of thousands of tourists that join the locals to celebrate the most popular carnival in the planet.

Salvador is known as much for the outgoing and friendly locals as it is for it’s beautiful beaches and amazing cuisine. While visiting Salvador with me, you will experience a safe, fun, relaxing as well as culturally enriching vacation. I'll be proud to be your host. Gather your friends and let me be your guide as you enjoy the beaches, food, shopping and festivals of Salvador, and go home with more than just a tan!

Morgana, thank you for your photos--it helps keep Salvador alive for me. I listen to my wonderful music and look at pictures to remember and try to recapture the magic of Salvador. It was truly restful and inspiring for me. My soul needed it. If you haven't seen this New York Times article about Salvador, you must. I marvel at how you speak and communicate so well. We Americans are not nearly so well spoken. Here's the link to an article entitled "36 Hours in Salvador, Brazil" It was in the paper about two weeks ago and has beautiful photos. www.travel.nytimes.com/2009/03/01/travel/01hourscol.html I have more photos to come, that day we spent at the beach was divine!
