Marquesa

Sport & Outdoors

Marquesa

This is an open space close to Mexico City where you can enjoy nature to the fullest. You can rent a motor bike, horse, fish your own trout, pick a place to have a nice barbecue with friends or family or bring your dogs for a nice walk. Depending on what you're looking for it can go from free to medium. You can bring your own food and stuff or pick a place to get the best "quesadillas".

Mexican Wrestling!!

Miscellaneous

Mexican Wrestling!!

The best and more traditional venue of original Mexican Wrestling!! It's actually a lot of fun and if you pick a wrestler - buy the tickets that same day at the ticket office (unless you buy them in advance for a special fight or so). Try to avoid street sellers. There are parking lots nearby but the best option is to get there by uber/taxi and leave after the event.

Taxi trap!

Traps

Taxi trap!

A lot of the public taxis have the taximeter fixed up or take you through the long way to charge you more. My advice: ALWAYS know where you're going and, if you must take one, make sure it keeps on wide streets and only for short distances. Follow your gut, if you feel like getting off, GET OFF at a stop sign and once you're out, pay the fee. (Options: uber, cabify, hotel taxi, tours..)

Trajineras

Trajineras

Located in the South of Mexico CIty, you can rent a small boat called "trajinera", traditionally decorated to explore around the channels once essential since it's pre-hispanic origins. Nowadays it's a touristic spot great to discover traditional food, drinks, listen to mariachi or just have a look at. It has a haunted spot if you are feeling daring! The house of its endemic species AXOLOTL!

Leave the city without getting far away from it

Sport & Outdoors

Leave the city without getting far away from it

National park less than an hr away from the city, it has a historic former convent in the middle of the woods, great cheap Mexican dishes and is a great place to trail run. You can spend the whole morning wandering surrounded by tall beautiful trees getting to tour where silent monks found a perfect spot to honor their silent vow. Outside you can buy tacos, quesadillas and great coffee.
